It was dark, it was cool, there was no one around. But wait…way down the beach in the distance there were tents going up, tables being placed, people milling around, a loudspeaker check, music…the Airport Marina Counseling Service’s annual Jet to Jetty road race was getting underway. Two hours later, with the sun up and Grand Marshals, John and Polly Garstka, riding in the beautiful “Woody Pace Car” led the 940 walkers and runners to the start of the 25th running of this fun race and community event benefiting Airport Marian Counseling Service. The enthusiasm of the children as they got ready for the Kids Fun Run rounded out the morning’s excitement. Held in August, Jet to Jetty featured an expo and exciting prizes while the folks at the IN-N-OUT Burger truck served up delicious burgers and drinks for all. Some of the terrific prizes were donated by our local business supporters - The Automobile Museum, Fast Frame, Leelavadee Wellness Spa, Purr-fect Growlings, Westchester Flowers, Olive It Catering, Coffee Company and The Buggy Whip Restaurant to name a few. The LMU Athletic Department donated basketball season tickets and Ryan Greene from Top to Top Athletic Apparel served as MC and kept things moving from the stage. The big win was a $2,500 cash prize made possible by a donation from The William H. Hannon Foundation.
