Jet to Jetty Set to Launch
on August 23, 2008
The 24th Airport Marina Counseling Service Jet to Jetty Run/Walk for Mental Health, supported by the event's title sponsors, The Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation and The Parking Spot, will be held on August 23rd, 2008.
The event will feature a 5K Run/Walk, a 10K Run, the Kids Fun Run and a Family Fun Bike Ride. Gather your family, friends or co-workers and form a team for the 5K Run/Walk!
We expect over 1000 participants at our ocean-side location at Dockweiler Beach in Playa del Rey. There will be awards in each age group, for each race and a chance to win prizes, including a trip for two to Maui, in our prize drawing. Our Race Day Expo will include vendors offering giveaway items supporting health and fitness.

Fritz Coleman, award-winning weathercaster for the NBC Channel 4 News since 1982, well-known stand-up comedian and writer, and an honored humanitarian, has offered his support to Airport Marina Counseling Service, (AMCS) and will appear in a one-man Comedy Night “Fun Raiser” to benefit the Westchester mental health clinic.
Join the crowd for a laugh-filled evening at Loyola Marymount University’s Strub Theatre, located in the Foley Building, on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. A dessert reception will follow the program.
Tickets are $50. Parking is free on LMU campus. Seating is limited, so get your reservations in early.
Coleman has performed in Southern California at The Improvisation, The IceHouse and other comedy clubs, and is the recipient of four Los Angeles area Emmy Awards for his work on NBC Channel 4 comedy specials and series.
Founded in 1961, AMCS’s mission is two-fold: to provide affordable, community-based mental health services, and to train mental health therapists. Serving the Greater LAX, South Bay and Westside areas, the nonprofit Clinic offers an array of counseling and therapeutic programs to meet the needs of people of all ages. All proceeds from the Comedy Night Fun Raiser benefit Airport Marina Counseling Service.
